I have Geo eggs!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If the eggs are fertilized, how long would it be before the fry would hatch? I have never had Geos before and would like some info just in case so I can be ready.
Also, what would be a good size tank to place the fry in afterwards?

Typically 3-4 days. If the water is warmer (85) they will hatch in 2-3 days.

Nice Job!
she seems pretty small to already be having a spawn. do you have a male in there?

I am not sure. I have only had them for 2 weeks and have not taken any pics to try and get them sexed on here. She is about 2.5".

ok here are a few more pics(crappy quality, crappy camera)

The Geo on bottom I believe is the mother she never leaves the eggs.
The geo above her is the only other fish she will allow get this close to the eggs and actually stay with her.

Fertilized eggs would mean that there is a male in there.:screwy:

"Geo" brasiliensis are known for being one of the smallest sized breeders, she's half an inch larger than other reports I've seen ... insane a 10 inch fish will breed at two.

How's the aggresion though? I've had a male brasiliensis make mincemeat out of a much larger silversaum and a large heavily armored royal pleco.

I haven't seen much aggression yet(fingers crossed knocking on wood)
My Uaru pretty much stay away. The only one fish they have a problem with is my 3rd "Geo". It is the only one in the tank that they will not tolerate getting close.
