I added an airstone to my tank, along with doing half of the recommended dosage of the ich treatment (malachite green) because I have clown loaches. I also increased the temperature to 84 degrees. I also have african cichlids in this tank.

I am going to do a partial water change tommorow and vac the hell out of the rocks, and do another half dosage of the treatment.

So my question is, should I also add aqaurium salt?

thanks,
Heathd

i personally bump the temp, do about 5 gallons of water change a day, and add just salts, and within a day or 2 the ich is all gone.

Thanks, I have no idea where the ich came from, no new fish have been added for three weeks and it just now poped up.:irked:

it can come from anything... ive been in the hobby since i was 12, never had a ich problem then a year ago i had my first ich problem and since then its only happened 1 more time, its easy to control if you take care of it right away(dont waste your money on meds unless your fish is belly up and needs them) do it the natural way :P

use salt and increased temps . . . besides, chemicals are not good for certain fish. i had a case of ich a few months ago. salt did the trick.

K, will do. I will do a heavy water change tomorrow and start on the salt regimen.
