The Real Norcal
hello,
I am owning one pond of rifts lake fish, and am viewing that some of my bumblebees johanni are makeing hybrid with my blue colored johanni, and the new fish I am resulting have brown color, but can seem to turn yellow or blue or purple at their will, often many time turning all three colors very rapid,as within maybe one minute.
Me freind is told me dont let them do mix,but I dont mind my new fish.Is it bad for mixing these fish?I also am letting my electric blues fish mix with the yellow electric fish, making a greenish blue fish with spots contain other colors on the fins.
I am not owning a digital camera but I have one scanner to maybe produce willing pictures.
Thank you for all time spent considering these matters.

I am wondering if possibly there is a demand for my fish?I was breeding my fish for exclusively for my fish stores keeper, however he has lost interest in my hybrids, sayng they sell for less than my regular johanni.Where can i find any local consumer for buying my Hybrid fish.I love making new fish and may need to stop if nobody is wanting of one.
Thank you for all time and consideration spent on this matter.

Sounds awesome! Would like to see them change color.

Geesh, it's late and I'm bored so I'll play along. First, I read most of your posts, and I don't believe you. You are typing like a mexican with english problems. More than likely you are some white middle to upper class kid trying to get under someone's skin ;) . Let's say you are not and no one is misleading or lies on the internet. I could say I was Ad Konings and that you are doing bad things Pedro. I'm not him. Yes the hybridization of rift lake africans is a touchy subject with most african keepers. Well, that's with most who have moderate intellect and average ethics. There are many here in this forum that are really into their other hybrids, but I have yet to meet one african keeper who is passionate about hybrids. Now you might have actually crossed Pseudotropheus crabro (bumblbee) with Melanochromis johannii, but I don't believe that you crossed Sciaenochromis fryeri (electric blue) with Labidochromis caeruleus (electric yellow). I think that the only reason someone hasn't caught that yet is because there are so few advanced african keepers on this forum. Even I would have thought it would be neat to see a green mixed fish when I was a newbie. Do you use crayons or markers since genetics doesn't quite work like that.
Let's say you are telling the truth :grinno: Pablo, you are doing a bad thing with cross-breeding and selling them. I'm sure you did it innocently. Now you know. If you do it anymore then you will be El Grande Bendahoe If my spanish stinks then we are equal with your english. The only market for those fish are innocent victims and complete idiots...either way you are the bad guy in the end. What is the name of the store with these wonderful hybrids. I know people who live out there from the ACA that would love to warn...I mean brag about your wonderful fish. BTW, lionfish love to have their bellies rubbed and sharks like to be hand-fed (yes I read all your amazing threads :clap ).
Well, you suckered ewurm so all your work wasn't a waste. :nutkick:
Lastly, why don't you do something constructive in the forum instead of posting weird and irritating threads. You won't though since your type fits the profile as good as one of the FBI's serial killers. You can always come back in with your other nic/computer and defend your position.

If you are into africans then you can see some really dramatic color changes that happen to natural fish. I would advise getting a good book like Malawi Cichlids in their natural habitat
3rd edition by Ad Konings, or join a local club near you. I think there is a club up near you called the Minnesota Aquarium Society. The ACA convention is going to be in Chicago next month :woot: :clap :headbang2  . Even if you drove down for one day it would be an experience that you would never forget. Unfortunately, any "Dr. Hybridstein's" who try to sneak themselves or their fish into the convention will be viewing the local fish of Lake Michigan...from the bottom :swear: . This forum is good for big tank ideas and big fish, but is a little below average when it comes to african discussions.

Oh man and I wanted to see what it looked like when he stuffed his willing fish into the scanner!

Malawinut, you can express your opinions, which are JUST opinions, in a more polite manner please, if you don't like hybrids (I don't) don't buy them (I don't), many people enjoy them. As long as they are not sold as purebred or released back into the wild then big deal.

Yes, a little rough I was. First, it was a thread that was written with the intent to cause controversy...often how the little flamewars happen on these forums. I stated that I'd "play along" and exposed the person's lie...the electric yellow/electric blue cross. If anyone was to actually believe the post look at #2 and that is where he opened himself up. Everyone of the "politically correct" people always say stuff like
As long as they are not sold as purebred or released back into the wild then big deal.
Problem is almost always african cichlid hybrids are not sold as hybrids. It's kinda like alcohol. You can get sloshed at home (in your tank), but don't go driving around into society. Again this is pertaining to rift lake cichlids, since so many other fishgeeks have all their rights to their hybrids. A newbie who reads about M. johannii and runs down to the lfs in San Diego should have the right to know he/she is purchasing said fish since that is what the label says...not some hybrid. I've seen labels misleading saying "mixed" africans, but have yet to see one saying "hybrid".

Del I am going to come after you with a giant stick!!!! o__o you stink!! :p

Now as for crosses, well if you guys are really stuck on the subject just go to the thread in the african cichlid section and talk about, as there is more of a nice discussion and more playing nice :D
