I have never tried to vent before, what do you think?

Two different managuense, one is 10", the other is 7.5"-8". Any thoughts?

I've found my best way of sexing jags is the coloration of the spots on the full plate. Males seem to be a solid brown to black color and females seem to be a faded tan color. In non breeding color of course.

I can useually tell about 95% of jags by color and patern. And I knew one was male for sure, but the other was questionable, hence the post. I had never tried to vent before, and thought I would try it out. The two looked comparable, so I was pretty sure. But still thought I would ask. Thanks for the responses.

Both look like males. It's usually a V for male and O for female. Worked in many cases for me.

I agree. Both look male to me. In venting, the front hole is the anus, and the rear hole is the genital, which is the reverse of human. The front hole in both fish is obviously bigger than the rear hole, so I say they are both male.
