I have no idea where to ask, or who to ask, and i always read the DIY part of this forum so i thought i might get some help here !;)

today i went fishing for the first time in my life, and to my surprise i caught some 7.2 pounds (3.3kg) of fish, naturally i am very happy and proud.
my wife have just finished cleaning the fish but she have no idea how to cook them simply because we have no idea what i have caught..!!!

so i need your help to ID this fish
your help is appreciated!!

extra info:
according to my wife they have red meat and while i was fishing they would bleed red blood (i have no idea if this is normal), i used a 0.4mm line and 4 small hooks (i bought them for 2.5$ hehe)

From what I know and from my best guess on coloring, body shape, and size I would have to say what you have caught is blue back herring (alosa aestivalis)
uploadfromtaptalk1415528845458.jpg

They get as big as approx. 16 inches and are mainly considered a bait fish in the fishing industry. Some people have been known to fry them or broil them.

**I could be completely wrong on this but to me this looks like them they could possibly be Alwife's too
(Alosa pseudoharengus)??
Not sure but hopefully I pointed you in some kinda general direction.

thanks, i greatly appreciate your help.
i checked both blue back herring & Alwife, it seems to me the tail and stomach doesn't match, my fish tail look more narrow, and with no belly.
by the way i am using Google images :) trust me on this one, i have no idea what i am doing !

anyway my neighbor just told me its a Kingfish, so i went home and checked Wikipedia and there is 12 different kinds of Kingfish :(

Yellowtail amberjack looks like my fish but mine have far less yellow color!

there is also Narrow-barred Spanish mackerel and King mackerel .. the young ones look like the one i have.
whats your opinion?

Make a thread in the fishing forum....cut up and sauté the meat and serve over some kind of rice, place it in a stew, you shouldn't do too bad with good old breading and frying in oil.

Dubai beach, between palm jebel ali and Dubai waterfront
i was told its good fishing spot with clean water
