Is it pretty common to see a 2-4" dat online for close to $50 per fish? I would like to find some small ones for sale, so they will be cheaper and I could grow them out, but all I find is people charging $50 per fish plus "$50 for shipping and handling. Anyone know someone or somewhere that they might be cheaper? Or is this pretty standard?

Better to get them from a LFS. If you can't find one around you, check the vendors on this site. They are usually cheaper then websites.

If you come down to the Denver area they have some...usually. I got my IT's at Todd's tropical fish for $22. I know PWMIN on here just got some at Fish Palace...I am not sure what he paid but I would guess close to the same...plus no shipping costs. Todd's was out when he went, I am not sure how many Fish Palace had.

they had one more 1.5-2" for $20 and one about 3-4" for $25. If you want one from there, I would call first and see if they will hold one as it's going to take you close to 1.25-1.5 hrs to get down there from FoCo. the smaller one had a split bar (i think on both sides). the "wonderful" people at "deep seize" told me they could get me most any fish if I told them what I wanted and it would be cheaper than if they just had it in stock since they would know it would have a home. it's not the greatest store, but worth a shot so you don't have to go all the way down to aurora. I've never actually asked them to order anything for me, though, so I don't have any experience with that. The other problem was the IT's were in brackish tanks, so you would have to acclimate it down from brackish before you could put it in a freswater tank.

Thanks Pwmin. I've thought about that, but I just assumed that it would be expensive. I work at the Vitamin Cottage across the street from Deep Seize, so I will check that out.

no problem. good luck and let us know how it goes.
