I have two pets beatles now ... yeah

so as you all know mealworms turn into beatles... Well i guees that i dropped two mealworms into my terrarium thinking they were dead... well i guess not lol. The other day i say two beatles doing it in my Gargoyle gecko terrarium and took them out and put them both in the container that they sell geckos in at the shows. How do i properly house these? because i do think that they are actually pretty cool

Hopefully in a few weeks, I'll have several dozen beetles starting out in my new mealworm colony. I just house mine in a plastic box with cereal and pelleted reptile foods with slices of fruit and veggies for extra nutrients/moisture

i always thought the shell was to hard for the geckos to crack?

I tried to keep one also,3 days,not sure about those things.They are cool though.

just put them in a container of oatmeal, and add some apple or carrot or something in there.
Thats how I bred mine..

right now im keeping them on the repti mulch stuff, and feeding them bananas... is that ok?

Go for oatmeal if you can.


I believe they could be kept on sawdust or sawdust/oatmeal mix. DUnno though.



Bottom line: Get oatmeal. It will probably even be cheaper then repti mulch, and they will like it more.
