As I said, I hear that oscars are very aggressive when paired up for breeding, and I believe it. My older cousin once told me that he saw a tank where a female oscar was guarding her eggs, and a bunch of other large cichlids and the such were on the other side, afraid.
So I guess my question is that how big of a fish would a pair of breeding oscars try to fight off? I know they wouldn't try to fight a 3 foot snakehead. Would they bully a red devil, or a shovelnose? Thanks for your opinions/facts. :)

I find it hard to imagine oscars fighting off a red devil, but then I've never bred oscars before so I can't say for sure.

in my experiance oscars are mostly of bluff!

and i very strongly doubt that you can find an actual breeding pair of oscars!

but if you do consider yourself lucky!

Yeah, Oscars usually aren't soa ggressive, but I think that totally changes if it's a breeding pair.

My Oscar fends off my Jaguar pretty good. My Jag has become more and more aggressive since I moved and the Oscar can usually hold its ground.

Breeding I guess for Oscars can get pretty brutal. They have a different way of breeding and thats usually why Oscars cannot be crossed with other cichlids.
