i was told that sand is better for fronts if so i was thinking of putting sand in my tank what type of sand should i use and would my filters work with sand and how do u clean your tank ect. as this will be all new to me i have never used sand ever///my filters are a:::casscade1500,mag350
(no bio wheels),a ugf 2 1200 powerheads,and a tetra tec power filter

I got rid of the undergravel when I moved to sand... I have agaranite and play sand in another... there is another thread about cleaning sand with a video on how to clean sand...

I use play sand in my Mbu's tank. Just make sure you rinse it well before adding it to a tank. But you definitely don't "need" sand for a Frontosa. Mine has lived all his life above small-sized gravel, and couldn't be happier. Tank is 6' and he alones moves like half the gravel to the front of the tank. Crazy little fellahs, working hard moving gravel ;)

I use Pool filter sand for my african cichlid tanks. Just put some pre-filters on your filter intakes to keep the sand out of your filters...
