I was eating dinner in the kitchen when my wife runs up from the basement looking worried. She looks at me and asks "John, where is your arowana?"

I ran downstairs and saw my little one swimming around the 120. I look at her and she says "not THAT one"

I turn slowly to my 180 only to find it missing a 24" slice of silver. Sure enough, he is lying on the floor. Gyarados was my first arowana.

Lesson to be learned: please weigh down your lids. I'm already looking for things to put on the 120.

So while you long time aro keepers are likely entirely aware of this, new keepers please weigh down your lids. I've been hand feeding this fish for months. Even my wife is moved by this loss, and she doesn't even like fish.

I thought this was a divorce thread, so I guess it could be worse?

Anyways sorry for your loss, I'm going to design the first arowana/big fish lid with some type of locking mechanism maybe with a feeding hole.

Hah! Thanks everyone. I suppose I could have titled the thread better.

I have no idea why he jumped. What's even stranger is that the Odoe is acting strange now as well. Like he misses his giant tank mate. Albeit too late, the lids are weighted.

I would fully support the locking lid invention. I've read about other members losing their fish to random jumps, but for some reason I never expected it. Well, lesson learned.
