I've got a little ones who love fish, stocking suggestions? Something easy, brightly colored, and cheap. I'm on the SINK income plan Single Income Numerous Kids.

For a nice variety of colors, you could have a community of tetras, barbs, swordtails, platies, etc. Lots of cheap, brightly colored varieties available and you could keep a few dozen small fish like these in a 55

African Mbuna would be a very colorful choice. They are quite active and entertaining to watch as well.

angelfish and some larger bodied tetras (Serpae, Black skirt White skirt etc) get 6 white skirt tetras and 6 black skirt and another dozen of the serpaes and then 2-3 angel fish as a centre peice and you have a very nice amazonian community that im sure the kids would love

go with a bunch of rockwork and some electric yellow mbunas...very active, hardy, and colorful

The mbunas look awesome, I think they're gonna get the position. How many would a 55-gallon tank properly keep. The tank came with a pair of aquaclear 110's Is that gonna be proper filtration? I appreciate the help all.

livebearers. kids love to watch the babies grow.

x2 I agree. They are very cheap, plentiful and can be educational for the little ones. I did a "breeding" project with my 6 year old son and it was allot of fun for both of us.
