im confused, so u bought a common snapper, and ur asking what to feed it now after you have it?

if its a baby, feed is reptomin pellets, rosy reds, blood worms, some lettuce, crawfish, blood worms, etc. id feed it reptomin 3 or 4 days a week and mix it up every other day.

i was asking to see whats really the best thing to feed it,i did not want to keep feeding it feeders, beefheart and turtle food

Cat food, raw eggs, bits of fresh peach, tomato, and blackberries (and whatever other fruits you can get it to eat), turtle food, dog food, insects, baby rodents. They're like aquatic racoons.

Any turtles diet should be no more then 50% turtle food. And thats still alot. Nothing can replace the naturel diet of one of these animals. For a snapper, I would feed it alot of crustatians. And no feeder fish. Like we have been through this to many times, their just no good for anything.

25% Comercial diet 75% natural food (live fish, feeders, any kinda animal protien) in the wild they eat mainly live\dead fish so far everyones given you prety good information, and feeders are just fine for snappers the chase helps to keep them slim and sexy:ROFL: minos or small goldfish, u do realise that the turtle can live 30-40 years and reaches in excess of 45 pounds with an average length of 18 inches on just the shell not counting the tail...big suckas! aggressive as hell to boot...well anywhoo, live crickets, small snakes\large worms, smaller rodents, crustaciens, any size live fish(or dead), baby chicks, basicly anything that it can catch it'll eat, INCLUDING your fingers *wigle-wigle* carefull now, ya hear? :headbang2

good luck with the snapper! oh and btw...do frequent water changes, they consume alot of food and make a rather large mess of their tanks....enjoy!

EDIT: forgot to mention, they also eat foliage! check online for a spacific list of vegies that are safe for them collards, mustard greens, tomatoes, just a few things to get u started.

I am sure it would chew on your finger too, if given the opportunity. LOL
