After losing my 2 banded spiny eels I thought I try and get some more or something simular any saw a listing on ebay title asa marbled spiny eel the photo looked like a half banded spiny eel .The desription stated zig zag yellow tailed spiny eel hence my earlier post on the diffrence of these two. I contacted the seller and asked which eel they are they responded the yellow tail eels so I purhased 2 . This morning they arrived took out the first bag had sticky tape onthe botton looked into the bag looks like 6 inch peacock eel id dirty water bearing in mind the listing stated a size of 12cm I will be ok with this looked at the second bag to my horror they have sent me a tyre track eel . I have contacted them but no responce the tyre track is a real beauty but can't keep it the peacock looks a bit tatty. I know ebay is a risk when buying fish but this is the first time this has happened . The water was cold no heat paks in the box .

well the one I belive to be the tire track has just died 3 hours after delivery looking at it there ar loads of white patches on the body and the other one has simular patches so won't be surprised if that one dies aswell concidering they spent the night in a package without heat packs in tiny bags with dirty water . think I will steer clear of ebay in the future although I know there are good sellers out as this is the first time this has happened to me

Sorry for your loss

I'm sorry to hear that after seeing the 1st post I was laughing at how bad of a misidentification it was then I read about the death and now I'm pissed at the seller

Sorry to hear this happened today. Unfortunately it is one of the drawbacks to ebay. If the seller doesn't respond, get e-bay involved, they'll make it right for you.

Hi he just responded and claime it was the lads that packed them I think the fact that there were no heat packs added and when I picked the bags containg the fish were stone cold I feared the worst the peacock is still alive the condition of the fish dose'nt look good here is a photo of the surviving fish the skin looks as though some one has gone over it wit some wet and dry paper

Ebay is solid for making this right for you. For sure you will get your money back and probably could keep the fish, dead or alive.

No real need to be very upset IMHO. Ebay prides itself in 100% buyer protection. There is essentially no risk buying from Ebay. At least, I've not experienced with live animals or inanimate objects. I am sure there are exceptions to any rule. I've not came across one with Ebay yet.

Yes to be honest this only is the second time something happened 4 years ago I bought a senegan bichir the post man knocked on my door with a worried look the bag containing the bichir leaked there was water every where so the heat pack was soaked and stone cold there was only enough water left to cover the bichir and that was stone cold as this was in february but bichir survived and I still have it
