So the heater on my sixty gallon tank gave out on me yesterday.I looked in my surplus cabinet and only had a fifty watt heater so that had to do for the meantime. The fifty watt seems to only be able to get the water temp to around sixty eight degrees so I thought I'd take the short ride over to PetSmart and get a heater of proper wattage.Well the heater selection there was not bad but the prices for them were.I needed a heater of at least one hundred and fifty watts and these were all priced at almost forty dollars! I just could not bring myself to fork over that kind of money when I've rarely ever paid more than twenty five dollars for any of my heaters.

In fact there is a Walmart a few stores down from Petsmart but I didn't think about them at the time.

I used a space heater to keep my tank up to the right setting while I replaced a heater.

Definitely sounds effective and lots more juice than what a tank heater would need.

I got a 300 watt aga brand heater off of ebay for 10 bucks with shipping for my 240.

I bought one of those 40 $ aqueons... piece of junk in my opinion supposed to do up to a 75 gal tank and barely keeps my 65 at 80 degrees.
