Leave it alone, let it settle in and it will eat when it is ready.Hopefully there is nothing there that may bully the tat as that could cause it to take longer to settle in.BTW,where did you get it from?

TAT's will not attack there food. They arer slow eaters. If there is any tank mates that eat aggressively (cichlids) they may not get enough time to eat. Just make sure the water is in good condition. And that there is no aggressive tank mates. And keep plenty of live feeders in the tank at all times for a few weeks. And they should eat. -------------i had the same problem. What i did was, put thet tat in his own tank and put say 10 feeders in it. And counted the feeders each day. They slowly disappeared

thanks guys, i will give that try, right now the red tail payara is about 8" long it it housed in a 55gal right now with a pbass that is 5", they both seem to be fine with each other. should i move the pbass?

yes, Pbass are really agressive eaters. And will likely starve the TAT to death. The only thing you can do to get away from this is to feed the pbass unitl it can eat no more and then put a dozen or so feeders in the tank, in hopes the tat will get a few.--------------if you don't mind, where did you get the tat at? And di they have any more? i am on the hunt for a few myself.--thanks

my tat hasnt eaten in a month.....:irked:
only eaten one silverside in all the time its been with me....
these guys can go very long without food.
im keeping mine with 12 pbass.
they tend to eat everything and keep the tat from eating.
the problem is that when you keep tats solo, they tend be much less aggressive or confident.
when you keep a school of em,they will fight for food and compete pretty well.
thats why im on the hunt for a few more....
