I just got some American Flagfish and I would like to learn a little more about them. I alredy know how to tell the males and females apart, they eat hair algea, and are nippy. Can somebody please tell me more about these guys. I have one male and two females and they seem to be doing fine. I took a few pictures but they're not that great but I'll post them any way.

Don't know anything abot those fish but I can tell you that those are some sweet lookin fish you got there.

i love FL. just go in the pond behind the house and catch flagfish. they like plants and lay the eggs on the underside of leaves and guard them cichlid style. i usually keep mine with some anacrys.

Could I maybe get you to send some to me if I want to get more?

Be careful how many you put into one tank because the males will harass the females and are pretty territorial once breeding. I've read the best ratio would be 1 male to every 3 females. A 20G will be ideal if you plan on breeding them but you can probably get away with a 10G if keeping a single pair.
I keep a pair with in my community tank of rosyside dace, various darters, bluespotted sunfish, and haven't had any issues. The male harassed my bluespotted sunfish when they were first added but haven't really since.

What are you keeping yours with?
