so my cousin has been asking me for awhile to take care of his 7" oscar till he can get a bigger tank and i had been kinda leery about it because i didnt want him to hurt my fish. he kinda just brought the oscar over without warning last week half dead so i had to put him into my tank.

well i got my first silver arowana july 30th and of course i didnt want an oscar neer him, but my cousin insisted it would be fine and the oscar is not aggresive at all. so i said i would buy my cousins 75g tank the next day for the oscar, but they would have to share a tank for 1 night.
when i came home from work the next morning they were fine but right as i was about to leave to pick up the tank the oscar attacked my aro. i moved the aro to a Q tank at 84 F and added salt. when i got hom ewith the tank he was dead. still my cuz refuses to pay me for the $66 aro and for taking his oscar and caring for him. he still wants me to pay him $100 for the tank and stand.

that really sucked, but the next morning i found my shortnose gar nose down in the sand. i had noticed the day before the inside of his mouth was red and went looking for what it could be. he was in the Q tank at 84 F with salt. i was so worried about the red mouth and the aro i didnt think to fully inspect him and if i would have i would of noticed the red anus and could have treated for parasites.

so now ive lost 2 very awesome expensive fish because ive made 2 very stupid mistakes.
ive decided im selling my big tank to just keep 2 75G tanks and ill be selling the fish that wont fit in the next few months. idk if ill end up getting another big tank later on in the next couple years

sorry for your loss.. i think it is best for you to trust your instinct... and follow your thoughts ...

So, you're saying your cousin gave you his 75 gallon tank and 7-inch Oscar because it was too big for it? ...wow.

I would give this kid 44 dollars and nothing more.

I wouldn't give him a penny. The loss of those 2 fish is easily equivalent to a 75 and stand. Tell him to keep the stand and build your own. :screwy:

Your family is interesting. Most brothers I know would be brawling on the floor by now.

He should realize by now that there was no place in your tank for his irresponsibly-kept Oscar. And family aside, if you let anybody put a fish into your tank once, they'll want to do it again. Next time he brings a fish over, get out the butcher knife and a cutting board.

Sorry for your losses.

That really sucks, he should have just kept it in his tank if he was getting a new one the next day. But don't let this experience be the one that ruins it. Just another lesson learned, stick with it man.

thanks guys.
he acctually just got home from college and couldnt keep his 75 up and wouldnt keep the oscar in his 25g.
and knifegill: ya he acctually just asked me if he could give me his three convicts to lol and was about to bring them over today
