OK i just put in 50 lb of pool filter sand into my 55 gallon. My tank water was crystal clear because i recently just finish cycling my tank.

Now, does it clear up overtime or do i have to do a water change? Will doing a water change speed it up?

let it settle down. it takes about 1-2 days. it should clear by then. did you rinse the sand before?

you can do a 50% water change to speed it up. that's what i did to 4 of my 125gal. it'll clear in a couple of days.

yea ofcourse i rinsed it, took about 2 hrs to get everything done

put a HOB on your tank a fill it with filter floss or pillow batting.

Shut down your filters and let the tank settle overnight. Do a substrate vacuum with a 25% water change. That should get most of the fines out. Seachem has a great product for knocking out suspended solids.....
