So i went to petsmart looking for a parakeet because one of ours was attacked by a cat while they where out in the sun, and i brought back two albino Tiger Oscars that where desperate for a home. I am Hopping to go save a Med/small Tiger Oscar as it it in bad conditions and it house with 2 dieing Oscars and one that is already dead. I just feel so bad for these fish.

What do you guys think about Petsmart/ Pet Co and the living conditions of the fish?

It sucks! Sometimes when you are rescuing an animal you are actually perpetuating the cycle. If everyone adopted a dog rather then get a papered one from petland then puppy mills wouldn't exist. I try not to shop in crummy fish stores. Petsmart usually takes better care then some of my lfs's. It's catch 22! I'm guilty too. Good luck with the fish.

Good luck not all petsmarts are equal some keep decent tanks however I still support lfs

X2. I support other small LFS too. I don't see anything wrong with Petsmart or Petco. Yes, they may not always have a good record of keeping the healthiest stock but I think they do serve a purpose. There are some things that I can only get locally from big chain stores. 95% of my stock comes from small LFS, MFK members, or vendors. Though my favorite fish is my 7" and rapidly growing Petsmart Midas/Devil. I doubt very seriously that stores like Petco and Petsmart get much business, livestock wise, from true hobbyist. I mean the vast majority of the popular fish in the hobby aren't even sold by these stores. It's generally the vendors and privately owned LFS that supply the stocks that we keep. Most of the people that frequently buy fish from these stores probably aren't serious hobbyist and there's nothing wrong with that. Not everyone is willing to devote as much time, money, and education that we do into keeping fish. To many people they are just pretty little fish in a tank. Even if that tank is a 30gal with a year-old Pacu laying on its side.
