so despite being as careful as I can I keep finding scratches on my front panels. I have changed my scrapers switched to a sponge cleaning manually and even cloth but seems like I always find a way to put in a new one....

I'm starting to think maybe sand is some how getting stuck on the panel and scratching it when I go over it with whatever I'm using to clean it.

Would switching to gravel help with this?

Also, is there a way to polish these light scratches on the glass without having to tear down the entire tank?

Thanks

Is it a glass or acrylic tank? Acrylic is far softer and easier to scratch.

And realistically, no you can't polish the scratches out.

Mighty Magnets has an option to buff scratches from the inside while filled with water. What kind of fish are you keeping? If rays, they have tiny teeth and will cut up your panel.

No Ray's here just central and south American cichlids.

Might look into that solution. Ideally I just want to make them less visible at least and then just prevent them from happening going forward.

I guess this might be another advantage of acrylic huh, easier to fix?
