So i was browsing around my fish store and seen a Long Finned Oscar!

ive never been a fan of oscars but i admire the long finned ones. So my question is do you guys think this guy is worth 25 dollars? hahaha Also, do they get as big as regular Oscars?

Really deciding if i should come back and pick him up

They're simply long-finned versions of regular oscars so of course, they will grow like regular ones.

they look so unnatural to me. Loose their predator mystique.

One of the worst examples of fish "manufacture", imo

I personally like the look of the long finned variety but around here it's more like $35 for a 3-4 inch one. I can get enough oscars of the regular type to suit me with that. Also very seldom see one with any size to it that doesn't have torn up fins.

sorry mate but i think the price is really illrelivent, depends how much you want it, personally i do not care for the long finned variety but each to there own, if you want it bad enough the price does not sound that bad,one of my lfs has fish at crazy prices, ie 3inch silver aro at 89pounds and 6-7inch oscars round 50pounds<how they sell i never know but people pay it

I'd get him. There really nice.

$25 is a good price for a clean, good-sized long-finned oscar.

But I agree that whether you want a long-finned oscar is more important than whether you can pick it up for $25, $50, or free...

Just because it's long-finned doesn't mean that it's not going to eat, and grow to over a foot long like a regular one...which is a real commitment.

I don't like them, they seem to become more sluggish than regular finned oscars. Also, it limits tankmates because of nipping. There are much more interesting fish that can be had even for just 25 dollars
