ok i know i should know what size the max is but i have heard of roomers of up to 18" jags...? i have a 3 year old xanthic male who is 13" soooo.....?

thanks for the help i was wondering if anyone has a beast of a jag this big?

Many people have 16" jags. That is the Usual beast size for any captive bred Jag at like 9 or 10 years of age. However I have seen an 18" jag my Dogs vetenarian clinic. It was huge and the depth of the body was like 6.5inches and about 2.5 inches thick. Most will not grow this big unless you have a Wild caught jag as they can achieve there normal size of around 18-20 inches.

male jaguars can and will hit 20-22" in the wild, but nothing over 16" in captivity- beleive me i've grown some out. the unlimeted food and space niceragua or florida has allows for this, many fisherman catch jaguars in that size range. i wouldn't bother asking rapps or any other vendors to import any because i've tried alot or people and nobody can. But if you can provided optimal conditions for yours it may have a chance to grow larger, besides the genes of the fish- which is the largest contributor, such as with people, great water, Huge tanks and a whole lotta protein in there diet helps.

ok cool thanks...22"!!! christ!

Show me a jag over 18" (with a ruler) and I'll eat my own underwear.

They were introduced to parts in Hawaii and I may have seen one that was 16". That's with unlimited space and food.

Average is more around 12-14".

That's the classic hold the fish away from the body and closer to the camera so they look bigger trick. Granted, that's a large jag. Probably about 16".

that's easily 17-19" right there, i do that trick all the time, but still that is bigger than 16".

Here's how we do it.

I'm 6'2" and have pretty average sized "man-hands". My index finger, when straight is 3.5" long from the tip to the middle of the third knuckle. With my finger bent like in the photo, I can get anything from 2.5-3". 3" is close. Most likely even a bit smaller, he looks to have stubby fingers, and I have no idea how tall he is.

If I hold a ruler up to his finger on the screen, I get 5/8". So, I divide 3" by (5/8) to get the ratio, which is 4.8. The fish, with the mouth extended (.5-1") even, is 3.75" long.

3.75" X the 4.8 ratio give 18", at the VERY largest.

If I use 2.5" the ratio drops to 4. And if I remove the extention of the jaws I get 3.5".

3.5" X the 4 ratio give a fish of 14" at the VERY least.

Average the two, 16".

I like math.
