I have set up a new 10 gallon about 2+ months ago. I thought I'd share my adventures in saltwater. Im fairly new to salt but Im learning all I can. My question is do you guys think I need a skimmer with this setup? My water perameters seem to be adequate according to recent tests. 5ppm Nitrate 0-1ppm Nitrite pH 8 kH 50 GH 250

Thank you. You should do it, just do your research beforehand. I spent hours reading books on water chemistry before I attempted setting this up. Hopefully ill be able to get a few corals soon

I would recommend the aquatic life internal mini skimmer. Only runs $60 but works like a champion. Only problem you would have to figure out a different lid situation as it won't fit with glass tops. My 10g with that skimmer:

+1 for the skimmer. I ran a nano salt water for about 18 months and didnt have a skimmer. There was often a lot of gunk on the top of the tank that I had to constantly sort out. I would have saved myself a lot of time by getting a skimmer, probably to the point where it would have paid for my time!
