I lost my felame Herimosa (sp?) overnight. She was not eating for some time now i tried everything. Shrimp, all kinds of worms, and pellerts which my female Motoro is on and loves. she goes crazy for them. I thought she had started eating them but she had not. She lived in a 180gallon with the Motoro and a Florida Gar.

The Motoro and the gar are very healthy and happy so i do not know what the problem was. I am new to fish keeping but for the past 8 months she seemed happy but it went down hill for the past 2 months.

Sorry to hear that! It really sucks when you don't know what caused the death :irked:

sorry to hear about your loss. unforunately the cause of death can be so many things. you are gonna have to start doing your own investigation. tankmates? parasites? bacteria? water parameters?

posting more info may help someone help you.

you quarantine? any signs of parasite infection? an initial quarantine of any species is a very good idea so you can make sure they are healthy and eating aggressively before they have to compete for food. sucks loosing fish man, especially the nicer ones, sorry...

Yeah i did but by the time i got home from work she was to far gone she went fast. From acting like she had for a month to gont in less than 24 hours. she was quarantined for 20 of them.

Sorry for your loss. If you had the fish in the tank for eight months with no problems and all of your water parameters are where they should be then it's hard to tell what the cause of death was. There are too many to even speculate on. Sometimes fish just die. There is also that possibility. It always sucks when they do. I hate to hear it.
