I have been trying to figure out how to add a 55 and a 20 to my fish room. I kept telling myself, this is a job for 3-4 people. Last night I tried to change the room around. It had to be changed 3 times. Did I mention that all the tanks are on wide cinder blocks? I had to take down a 75 and 40 breeder, 55, 10, 5 and a 20!!!

I had to move 36 cinder blocks around a few times!:cry::cry: Funny thing, I was barely able to handle the 36 blocks, but the tanks were killing me. :jaw: I even had the idea of stacking 4 tanks, luckily, I only did one stack of 6 and took it down.

I only ripped and scratched 1 arm from wrist to elbow including the width of the arm too. The other arm is just covered in scratches no ripped skin. We won't talk about my hands. Started on this crap from 10 pm last night and finished this morning at 11 am. I had to stop. Fish are in most of the tanks and the room is a mess. Great idea to do this by myself!! When I had help they couldn't handle it either and quit!!

wow i have gotten myself into a huge mess before too while trying to cram more fishtanks in my room. after my room is a huge mess and i regret even starting the project.

Isn't it crazy??? We all start out with one tank, then another and most people stop at 2-3, so no problem. I think someone should design a program or software to really help us figure this all out 100% EFFECTIVELY!!!

Don't get me wrong I have saved a ton of $$$$ for stands(I think around $285-$300 for all of the stands) So for 8 tanks, it's a bargain. My husband and I might move(not decided), as I was moving all these cinder blocks, I thought this is going to be a nightmare.

It becomes a nightmare, because all of the blocks, have to be so far from the wall(filter allowance), they have to be stack perfectly even though the vary in shape and of course even.

Any decent 3d software can be used for this. I use Blender all the time and after I model the tanks and the room, I can move them all over the place while drinking my coffee. When I think I like it, I can do a 3d walk through and see if it looks good before I ever lift any more than a finger. I used it to design a wall unit for my home theatre and liked the look of it before I ever bought the wood to build it. It turned out just like the designed model.

Blender has a fairly steep learning curve but it can be used for any 3d application even making movies. Google Sketchup is not as powerful, but a lot easier to learn how to use. The key to using 3d software effectively is to build the models as accurately as possible. If your models are out by 1/16" it can make the difference in your design working in real life or not.

You know the rules, pics or it didn't happen! BTW I remember a certain all nighter in college. I think we moved two tanks and broke a third before we just started drinking.

No way. I was not going to post pics of that mess! Still under construction. A couple of days ago, I found one of my gloves that I used to stop ripping my hands. When I pulled it off on disaster day, it literally formed a bird with the 3rd finger. I didn't even see the glove that day. I laughed out loud because the idea of moving all that stuff by myself was ridiculous.

I wondered what were the odds of the glove forming the bird? I should have pondered that more because I sliced open a half inch cut to the muscle on the side of my knuckle with a spade. I was trying to hammer a very large nail in the wall with the spade to hold a piece of wood that was holding down a large piece of driftwood in the tank. Blood was pouring out of the cut.

I looked at the mess of driftwood and the tank partially being done, I saw the bluegills and catfish all on one side of the tank, hiding behind the only piece of driftwood and knew it would be a carnage of scales, fins and later. So I put my hand in the tank and finished 2 tanks 2 hours later. I can say the fish did not react to the blood. Not even the catfish, which people always say causes them to go into a frenzy.

I will take some pics soon though including the glove.

I know how ya feel I've done stuff like this before, ya wanna quit because its hard and nothings going right but in the end you will be happy with it most likely. Just keep going because it could always be worse :)
