I have a 40 breeder with a couple cories, a few dozen small tetras, and a dozen Tapajos O-head grow outs. Well, last week I noticed the dreaded white spots on a few of the Geos and on the 4 Columbian tetras and knew right away what it was.I had'nt seen it in over 6 years. I was witnessing the start of an Ich breakout. Oh no !! What to do ?!?!
Did I start another ''help me'' thread ?? NO.
Did go out and buy meds ?? NO.
Did I do a massive water change and add salts ?? NO.
Did I panic ?? NO.
I simply did a 25% (10 gallon) Water change and, wait, you wont believe this... turned my heater up to 87F....
Thats it. Nothing else. 10 days later, no white spots and more importantly, NO LOST FISH !!!!
I plan on leaving the temp up for at least another week to kill the cycle of the disease in the gravel.
Moral of my story. If your fish get ICH, don't panic, just crank up the temp to 85 . Done deal.
