I introduced a festivum from a LFS (probably Asian raised) into my tank with a beautiful chocolate cichlid. The festivum passed on after a few days displaying no sign of sickness except for some dark colors. Now my chocolate is acting strange, loss of appetite, dark colors and long strings of feces. Help I need a cure. This happened to me a few years ago after adding angel fish in with my chocolate and was nerer able to get him to recover. what is the disease and what is the cure.

It can actually be several things, including flagellates, bacteria including columnaris, or worms, Since the treatment for it is safer treat the worms/flagellates first, the mixed medicated foods containing prazi/metro/ and something like flubendanol or levamisole is good for this but if the fish are not eating use a product like Jungle's Internal Parasite Guard to treat the water. If that does not clear it up treat for bacterial infection using TMP Sulfa, Tri-Sulfa, furanase, or a similar sulfer based antibiotic, by-pass your filter during this treatment as it will usually kill off the bacteria in it if you don't.
