Ok so my science teacher ordered some live pond culture to study under a microscope. They accidentally sent her a native Snail. It doesn't have the swirl of a garden snail. It also has 2 thin, hairlike eyestalks. It is grayish brown and the underside of its foot is silver. I asked my teacher since it will eventually suffocate in the unfiltered container and its too big to be seen under a microscope if I could have it and she said i need a note from my Mom. She said she doesn't see a problem and will ask my Dad later. I am currently bleaching, soaping, and rinsing my old 5 gallon tank. My grandpa said that tap water needs to sit to get rid of chlorine and other chemicals, so im gonna let it sit from tonight to when I put the snail in it. I plan to use it unfiltered and just make water changes, but how often do I need to? What do I feed it? Will it escape? I dont think it will come up out of the water, but I dont know. Do I need a filter? Do I need to cycle? Can I eventually put it in with Glass Catfish? Since its a native, it doesn't need a heater, right? What kind of substrate do I need? How do acclimate it? Will it get sick? Prompt response please!
