I have not read a good book in a while and am on the look out for one. I enjoy Flannery O'Connor, Barbara Kingsolver, Ira Levin, Augusten Burroughs, and Michio Kaku so similarly styled or themed books are a plus.

throw some suggestions my way please. Thanks guys.

PS. NO I WILL NOT READ TWILIGHT! on the recommendation of a friend, I read the first three chapters. I then went over those three chapters and covered the pages in red ink fixing the rather numerous grammar errors and sent it back. We are now no longer friends. :grinno:

BTW Ma and Pa kettle are real ppl there in this book that isnt there real name's but the writer changed there names to that so she dint get in truble. even thoug there names changed they still tryd to soo here lol.

Any book by Stephen King, I found Dreamcatcher to be a VERY good read, same with Night Shift and his newest book, Under the Dome

The Road by Cormack McCarthy.

Also, Guns Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond.

Nightwatch (4 books in the series so far) by Sergei Luknayenko. It's a russian author who wrote these science fiction books that have been adapted into 2 movies (both were horrible movies that tore the story to pieces and made no sense but ... they made movies ... that says something) The books are translated to English so you will find some very rare weird wordings because some things said in russian simply don't make sense in English. I loved the books, couldn't put them down. I think you will too.

All of the vampire chronicles by Anne Rice. they make twilight look like the joke that it is. I also recently began reading these somewhat comical books by Christopher Moore. I started with "A Dirty Job" which is a guy that is forced into being Death and juggling being a father and owner/manager of a store at the same time. After that I moved onto a vampire series that he wrote based on some of those characters and in the same city. I believe I started with Bloodsucking Fiends and then moved on to Bite Me and You Suck. that may not be the order but I really enjoyed all of Christopher Moore's books.
