I always use 3w per gallon no matter what the manufacturer says.

case in point: the eheim jager ratings on the latest models.

the older models of 250w jagers were rated for up to 90g.

the new ones up to 159g or for an aquarium almost twice as big.

what changed: nothing. still 250w.

so I still use 3w per gallon no matter what the box says.

they changed their rating system thats all.

so I would take it with a grain of salt IMO.

and I love my jagers

id actually get TOP FIN heaters ,lifetime warranty , (keep receipt).2 x 200 watts for that size tank in moderare (texas) climate

I was never big on the brand but the warranty is good to know about.
