I've been jobless for over a month now:irked: Everywhere is "apply online" but they never get back to me! I'm getting annoyed and my cash flow is getting really low now. Anyone have a suggestion or willing to give a job to a fellow MFKer?

just curious, what's your line of work? degree of any type?

Post up your resume here and see what happens!

Well...I was a retail supervisor at Six Flags for 12 years, I'm a certified trainer by NCCPT (I was a trainer at LA Fitness), and I have a Culinary degree. I'm kind of all over the place. I've worked in a pet store (fish department of course ;)) before and I used to help out as much as I could when my Dad owned an auto repair (mainly did oil changes).

Keywords. You need to tailor each resume application online to include keywords relevant to each individual job. Because with electronic applications and resumes today companies search through them for certain words. If you don't have them you're not going to get interviews.

where are you looking for jobs? i use Monster and Career Builder to "passively search"
for new jobs and it seems as though theyre always something out there. and yeah i agree, apply for a job, and if you dont here back in about a week, give them a followup call...

I usually give them a call and they always tell me that it goes to their recruiter and it's their decision. And of course, no seems to be able to contact the recruiter by phone...it's always email. :irked:

yeah i dont like the whole recruiter thing. our company uses a recruiter as well. when we get applicants, they all get pre screened by the recruiter. if she likes them, then they get forwarded on to the person doing the hiring. seems like a crappy way of doing things cause if the recruiter is in a bad mood or doesnt like how your name sounds, thats it, you get trashed.

and she handles ALL applicants. whether it be online or by mail

Finding a good job is usually in who you know. Might try networking here on MFK or with friends.

You also have to understand that most of the jobs you find on major search engines have 100's if not 1000's of people applying for them. So it's hard for you to stick out. Places like craigslist/local paper have less jobs but you also have less competition.

Recruiters for the most part suck.
