I picked up 3 of these last week and my parents really liked them so I went and picked up 4 more. All of them are only 2".

Now I'd really like to know what they are. I was thinking Gold Severums but they have too much red in them to be Gold's.

Could they be Super Red Severums? Are there two different types of red severums (ie. Red severums and Super Red Severums)? These guys came in the store as red severums. I am curious if Red Severums and Super Red Severums are the same thing or completely different.

I know Rapps had Super Red's a few weeks back for $30.. If they are the same then I believe I got a super sweet deal!

Those guys are amazing when they mature! I'd call it a super red, although they're listed as "red spot gold severum" on the wholesale lists right now.

really?! I really hope they turn out nice and keep their red color. My parents have a thing for red fish. In our culture it is considered lucky so HOPEFULLY they keep their red or get even more red which will be even better! :)

Any other opinions out there?

As they get bigger the red will fade and look more burnt orange they are still impressive looking when they get big.

This is my 4-5" selected Super Red.
I think if you take care of it properly, it will be even more red and got more impressive!

In addition to their normal diet which is high in vegetable matter, feed a diet colour enhancing pellet that has any red pigment enhancers like Beta carotene or astaxanthin - TetraColor Granules (Used to be known as Tetra Colorbits) are a good start, and all you'll probably need.
