Hello i am wondering if i could buy a Northern snakehead off someone and put it in my 90 gal. tank. I will probably soon get an arrowana but for now i would like to concentrate on the snakehead. I live in Canada where it is legal. Please tell me if you know where to buy a Northern snakehead in BC or if you would be willing to sell one to me. Thanks.

Snakeheads are illegal in most of Canada. And soon (october 2012) they will be illegal in BC aswell as everywhere else they are still legal. I know because iv wanted a snakehead forever, and researched their "legality" issues for over a year. Not to mention both a northern snakehead and the arowana you mentioned, will outgrow that 90 gal tank.

Snakeheads are currently only illegal in ontario, all other provinces currently allow them. From what I have heard BC is looking into banning them in the future.
If you own a illegal species and you are caught. You will most likely be prosecuted and fined $5000 to $10000. So if you do have illegal species, don't be careless and advertise it over the internet.

If they are still legal to buy, they will more likely be Grandfathered meaning you can keep it, but you can't sell, buy, and/or release it. Keep the receipt to prove you bought it before the ban and you'll be okay.
