I replyed to scubasteve06's petsmart thread about this, but figured I would just start a new thread for it. So here's the situation:

There's been this smallish oscar (about 3-4" maybe) at a LFS near me, and his eyes are deformed. He/she has been there for a while, and seems to be doing fine enough. I would like to buy this fish, since I think no one will buy it, and it will be doomed to die in a crappy LFS tank in a year or less (most likely). Unfortunately, I JUST bought a new 55gallon recently for a GT. I only have one other 38gallon with a FM, some tiger barbs, and catfish. I feel bad for that poor little guy in the store, and wish I could do something. Maybe I'm a bit sappy about it, but still, what would you do in my position? Help!:nilly:

I stopped saving after my two H. Pangasius ;) I no longer care if no one is going to buy it.. Why?

I no longer believe in paying for somehting that will allow something of the same situation come in the door ;) I if were looking for the fish that needed saved.. that is a different story.. As I was looking to add that species to my stock ;)

I now buy what I want.

If you're willing to give him the long term care he needs, then go for it. Never save a fish on impulse.
