i have a 30 gal and have live sand and a peice of aquacultured live rock (ton of coraline algea). but i seem not to have any copeopods for my scooter dragonette. under the rock there is plenty of room for some breeding but still nothing.

is there any thing to give them a quick kick start or buy a population to add to the tank? i have thought about getting a refugium but havent as of yet. thanks for the replys in advance.

IMO, you're better off with hatching brine shrimp until you're set up to propagate other marine inverts. The suppliers I know of have $50 minimums for ordering and that'll usually give you a 6oz bottle with around a 500 of each given invert.
Check out the live cultures at aquaticeco.com

Its possible to make a "feeding station" for your scooter. I have seen it done for mandarins and scooters should be the same. The ones i have seen used small jars or containers filled with food carefully placed into the area of the tank with out alot of flow so the mandarin could just swim in and have a feast. Im sure it would take a few weeks to get the hang of it but they used frozen food so im sure in the long run it would be worth the effort coz of the money you would save on live brine shrimp.
Try a search on reefcentral for more specific information about it although good luck as there search thing sucks.
