It's called getting descaled by a tougher fish.

No telling which one did it. Keep a close eye on that tank.
its weird it was the third biggest fish in ther the only fish that could possibly beat the crap out of it is the gt and oscar

Yeah it got mauled, do what we said and keep your fingers crossed. 50/50 chance.

wow but could have done this most fish were smaller than him and there was never fighting could a gt or oscar done this

Have you checked your parameters? I agree...it looks like ammonia burn.

To me, this doesn't look like a typical fighting wound. Seems like something else is going on in your tank. Check your parameters and make sure there is no ammonia or nitrites. If there is, BIG water change immediately.

i think i know what it was about 2 days ago i treated the tank super ick cure all my fish that i got from rapps started to get ick so i raised the temp and treated the fish but why would the fish react 2 days later????

Sorry to hear about your injured fish. This reminded me of a mating pair of mollies I had years ago. The female became stuck in the crevice between large rocks. I carefully moved the rocks with a net, but the damage was done. A scratch on the side if her head. It wasn't real deep, but she passed away a day later. I thought it was either the scratch or maybe lack of oxygen while she was stuck, that did her in. I hope you have better luck with your pet!

thanks but i dont dee much hope he is in really bad shape..

Is there a LFS/Petco/Petsmart close by? You could run a sample there quickly.

In my experience and from all photos I have seen, most fight damage is to the tail, face, the sides or the belly. I haven't seen any of scale damage on top of a fish before. Not saying it can't happen, but without knowing your ammonia level, it is a good guess that might be the problem.
