I have a 125 gal tank which i used to have two stingrays in, 1 died and the other one i sold to a friend of mine.. what is the best way to remove 80lbs of sand.. I know some of you guys have removed your sand and went either gravel or bare bottom. I want to change to gravel because my filters are always making noise because of sand being sucked into the motors... since i have no more stingrays i want to go back to gravel thanks for any advice given.. I currently stock 2 CK's 1 RTC and a paroon

Use a bucket and shovel it out or siphon it out.

The fastest, easiest and cleanest is to just use a 5/8 or 3/4 hose and siphon into a pail. Pour off the water into a drain and continue. Should only take a few minutes. Put in your washed gravel and decor and then siphon off more water until you have about 25% left and refill with fresh water. Start up your filters and your ready to go.

I just lowered the water level and started scooping. Doesn't take too long.
