If anyone is still awake, I need help with a decision. I came home to find that my tank had leaked all over the floor, leaving roughly 6 inches left with my rays and arowana at the bottom:( I collected some of the remaining water and added it to a styrofoam box I had that one of my rays came in. I set up a 55 gallon tank I had but since I did not have any old water left, I had to use new water. I added a heater to the tank, as well as the filters (which took quite some time to get going), and some stresszyme. I would like to know if I should leave the rays overnight in the box that I have them in to allow the temporary setup to filter through a little, or would it be less stressful to just add them to the tank. The 2nd biggest problem is that the tank was dirty from previous fish. I had planned on cleaning out the tank so that it can be sold, but I had not gotten around to it. I did remove the old rocks (which only revealed more dirt), and added the media from the old tank. If anyone can give me advice it would be appreciated. Im not sure if I should go to a 24hr walmart and get a large tub or add them to the 55g setup, or just leave them where they are since the water is consistent with what they have been in, but the space is obviously nondesirable. I am so saddened by this. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I would not leave the rays overnight in containers without filtration of some sort.

Can you move the filter off the tank that leaked out to the temperary tank? Having cycled/seasoned biological filtration is going to be very important so the new tank does not want to cycle and expose your fish to a huge ammonia spike. Unsure if when you said you moved over the media if this is what you mean you did or not.

I would get as much water possible out of the existing (leaking) tank and add this to the new setup then add in the new water and slowly acclimate the fish to this tank and get them in there. Watch ammonia very closely and be ready to do water changs frequently as needed.

Yes, I took the canisters and hang on filters off of the older one and put it on the 55g tank. I also took some of the sand from the leaking tank and added it to the 55. Sorry the post was a little random in that it was probably unclear. Is there anything I can do about my arowana. I took a little break to write these posts, and to feed the dogs. I'm about to go back down to check on him but it doesnt look good. He was stressed pretty bad when the water was low...then again when trying to take him out. Now hes not even moving much:( and this is obviously completely uncharacteristic of the arowana.

I will also test the water in the 55g now. I had no prime left so I used stresszyme...which I believe has some of the same treatments as prime. Otherwise I can go to a walmart or something to get something similar to prime.

What size and how many rays do you have?

I would make sure the new tank is running some airstones and the water is well oxygenated and hope for the best for the arowana. I can't think of much else you can do at this point for him.

How long are they going to be in this 55? You may need to come up possibly with a larger temperary home or see if someone can babysite your fish while you get your larger tank fixed/replaced.

Does stresszyme remove chlorine and chloramines? If not go get some Prime / dechlorinator ASAP.

I do not see that stresszyme is a chlorine remover as all from my quick google search. Are you on city water and need to dechlorinate?

I'm sorry. I hope your arrowana does well. This is one of my biggest fears

You're right. Stress zyme does not dechlorinate water. I dont know what I was thinking. I thought it was like stress coat except with bacteria. This is getting worse and worse. I will go out and get some now. The ammonia is between .5 and 1. The rays seem to be more okay in the box than the arowana in the tank...i forgot to mention that the box they are in is slowly leaking as well. This is so bad....:( Thanks for all of your help. I will get some more prime type of chemical and hope for the best. Its disheartening and just plain sad to watch something die. I just dont know what I was thinking with that stresszyme.

Thanks...its not looking good at all though. Its all my fault.. Which makes everything that much worse. I remember looking at the tank thinking it wasnt quite on the stand right, but I kept forgetting to have someone help me move it. Sorry...the rays are maybe 6 and 8 inches...just a guess. I'll have to get something bigger soon if they make it past tonight. I saw a 300g pond/tub for sale. I may be forced to use that for now. At least its much much bigger in volume. Well I'm off to the store. If you think of something else, let me know. Thank you
