I started building my stand for my 6ft 125g stand but saw that the frame under the tank itself is bowing a little bit. I need big time help. Should i redo it with 2x6's? I want a 4ft section under the tank so I can put in a 42" tv when its all done. Thats why I placed the vertical 2x4 off to the right.

Maybe you could put a support beam in the back behind the tv. Id get more support on the left side corners too. The 2*6 boards would help tho.

I would replace the entire top frame of the stand using 2 x 6's. I built my 125G six foot stand that way and was able to eliminate the vertical support posts. No sagging yet in 3 years.

I don't recommend putting the TV under the tank but that is just my opinion.

I agree:
1. If the tank fails good bye TV.
2. You are bound to drip water on that TV at some point.
3. If the TV is on for a long time "heat rises" and that could heat up your tank.
4. Get a GFI power strip so you don't get shocked
5. The constant heating and cooling so close to the wood could cause warping issues

Salvage the wood and build a new one. Check out Uaru Joey's YouTube channel and check out his stand build video. It's simple, solid design, and adaptable. I built one for my 430 gal. The stand is like a tank and was easy to build.

The wood was actually bowed to begin with. I replaced it and all is good. Maybe next summer ill build a better stand with some 2x6's.
