Alright, the sand I had in my tank when I first put my ray in seemed to be irritating his belly, so I switched it out for one that quite a few members have said they have used with little to no problems with. I think in the process tho I have freaked out my ray! His colouration is fairly pale and he is not breathing through his top gill vents. I put some food in the tank for him last night after the lights went off, but I am not sure if he ate the food or if someone else did. I tired to feed him this morning a little bit more but he is not being very active. I don't know if it was the old sand but I think he went through a skin peel. it didn't seem to bother him before the sand was changed out but now its all gone and i don't think it has anything to do with the way he is acting now. will he be alright?

Well I kept the lights off today, I think it was the changing of the sand that freaked him out. I had my wife keep an eye on him and she said he was swiming around the tank and when I got home his colour is much much better.

cool i'm glad he is getting better. My rays are more active when the lights are out so maybe he just doesnt feel comfortable with the lights on yet.

Good news, hope they get better! Good luck and keep us posted.
