I just noticed this evening that my fire eel has what looks like slimy, whitish stuff
on it. I don't know if it is fungus or not. It kind of looks like the eel is shedding it's slime coat. I really would like to save this fish, and prevent any death from whatever is causing this issue. Please help me

ps. my tank has been set up now for a little less than a year. I do weekly water changes as a rule. sometimes I end up going for 2 weeks. My tank was cycled using the fish less cycle method. And my water parameters as far as ammonia, nitrate, and nitrites are all ok. I use an aquarium pharmaceuticals master test kit. The test kit is over a year old. should I buy a new one, and test again?

I will try to get a picture of the fish, and post it as soon as possible. The eel likes to hide, and is hard to photograph.
