just set up a 6ft 125~ tank. it has dual build in overflow black boxes with a intake and return in each. i had to slow the water movement down on the pump because the noise of the water coming out of the tank was horrible, but slowing it down did the trick. not that it is slowed down the top of the tank is making a gurgling(bubbling) sound. kinda like its having to fill up and then drain every few seconds. and its only on the left side of the tank. i have adjusted the overflow to every level possible but it will not fix it.

any ideas? thanks alot

also both of the noises were not there at the pervios owners house and i set up the tank and plumbing identically...

add another overflow or get a slower pump. Your overflow is not keeping up with the pump so it is draining like a toilet flushing. I had overflow boxes on my 125 and I said the hell with them because they were a pain. I ended up making a DIY overflow outta PVC pipe and all is well. I was also able to open my Mag drive pump all the way and the overflow was able to keep up. Is your tank drilled?

It's actually the opposite...The overflow is too large so large amounts of air is being pulled in along with the water and hence the gurgling noise. Here is a huge/long thread on a "Silent and Failsafe Overflow System"
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1310585. It's basically tuning your main overflow to the exact flow and having one or two backup pipes placed higher than the main one as a failsafe. The thread will do a better job of explaining it and it has pictures too.

ok so go get a kickin surround sound tv system and krank it to 8 should drown out the gurgle
