I bought a 2nd hand 3ft tank a few months ago and it is just sitting in my room gathering dust. It did have a few minor cracks cause I bought it for only $15AU! It was really cheap and the dude who sold it to me said it didn't leak. But of course it does, but only when it is at full capacity. The weight and pressure of the water is causing this. I sealed up all the cracks but it still leaks! I found out that the water is coming out from the bottom.

Do you think if I put a another layer of glass on the base and sealed it up it would be fine?

It would be great if anyone could give me a cheap way of repairing it. Thanks. :)

if its cracked on the side... replace the cracked piece.. if you dont yer just asking for trouble...

as for the bottom.. you could add another piece of glass.. however if you have a piece of glass the right size.. why not just replace the cracked one and never worry about it again.. theres bunches of threads about resealing tanks and what sort of sealant just use the search feature..

if its a cracked bottom... theres been a few threads where people have had broken bottom pieces and used foam under the tank covered in silicone... otheres have done the same with plywood and silicone.. and im pretty sure i read about someone using a piece of plexi and siliconing it inside the tank as well... i dont know if any of these worked long term... but i dont remember seeing any "i half fixed my tank and it worked for a while but now my stuff is all wet" threads...

3' tank... 40gallon?.....

its your floor...

you could always make a turtle tank out of it. if u want fish just make sure they are kind of aggressive or larger than the turtle by at least 3 X since turtles grow fast. u can put small pond plants or small plants to cover space if needed. it is hard to replace a piece of glass, you usually cant.you can also make a snake or reptile tank out of it. if the crack bothers you take it out and put sliding doors for a reptile or hamster etc... GL

you could always get rid of it and fert 75 bux get anew tankw tih lids HASSLE FREE

I have ordered a 3ft not long ago for $103. But I bought this one for only $15, and it couldn't cost that much to repair. So yeah when I repair it I'll have 2 3fts and 1 little 22L up and running! :headbang2
Thanks for the advice everyone! :)
