how can you bend glass or whatever to make a half cylinder

I wouldnt try heating an bending glass yourself. Plexi or Acylic would be your best bet, just take it slow.

There's a reason we don't see more cylinder tanks available...They're freakin hard to do right. The acrylic has to be uniformly heated theoughout the bend area or you'll get warping. The slightest amount of warp will cause a visual distortion area.
