looks like a male to me, should be somebody with a lot of cichlid knowledge around before too long

i thought it was a male too but its really not agressive for its size my 5 inch flowerhorn whips its butt it has the looks of a male to me but im a little lost.

Eh, every fish can have it's own personality, and if one fish has shown excessive dominance the red devil may just be submissive. I'd definitely recommend separating the fish though as FH really should only be kept alone unless it's a breeding pair I guess.

^ the fins and in the first picture the nuchal hump appears to be forming

Both male and female Red Devils can have Nuchal humps and long fins. It can be hard to determine sex by pics alone. You can vent it to be sure. Just net it and take a look at its reproductive area. Males will look like: (oo) . Females will look like (Oo).

Well the flowerhorn is about 5 inches at max mayb smaller might get it a seperate tank if it gets too agressive but my gt keeps it in place. but i think your right about being submissive there is an 11 inch oscar in there that is KING of the tank.

dang how big is this tank? oscar FH GT and RD? that's a pretty hefty stock

I no theres a lot of fish in there but i have grown them all out together they were in a 55 untill a month ago when i bought a new tank it is 150 gallons but some fish might be moving out like the fh cuz its getting too agressive besides that they all get along together except for the red devil which i recently bought. Im still not sure what it is though I hope someone witha lot of red devil knowledge helps me out
