this is the story...i do weekly water changes about 10 gallons every sunday...i went to clean my filter cuz it was due and my carbon bag ripped...ok i put a new 1 in and bam...water has bin cloudy for about 3 weeks now...2 of my koi died with my ****in baby red tail catfish...my red tailxtsn catfish...silver tip cf and oscar are fine...its a 55 gallon tank with a 70 gallon hang on bak filter....my tank u cant even see the other side...everything checks out ok...wuts going onnn!!! how do i clear it up?/// bacteria bloom??

did you rinse off the carbon bag before you put it in?? What color is this "cloudy"? Have live plants, use fertilizer? Amount of light the tank gets?

^^ no live plants and yes rinsed the carbon bag when i got it...also the tank gets about 8 hours of light a day....the only thing i use after water change is a tiny bit of stress coat..thats it!!!...once that carbon bag went in my tank is a milky white...2 koi got all stressd and died also my baby red tial

do you have some kind of sponge or something like that to clear it out? i like to cut out filter floss and fit it in my hob filters right where the water flows out to catch any last particles works great for me, give it a try maybe?

YOU HAVE TO CLEAN THE FILTER BAG!! before anything you need to clean the filter bag because th ebag for such a big filter has carbon powder and you need to rinse that off because it is like poison what i would do is take out the fish give them a CLEAN!! tank and have them in there four three weeks or so because they need to relax from the poison and in the mean time you should clean out the other tank!

:D ;) :thumbsup:also use a powerhead with a sponge attached to it to get the stuff out along with the filter so you will power clean it

White cloudy water after a filter cleaning? Sounds like a mini cylce is going on to me. I know you said everything checks out ok but what are the actual readings?

Your tank also sounds like it was pretty overstocked and underfiltered, even if the fish are still small. I would be doing alot more than 20% weekly water changes also, like maybe bump it up to twice a week.
