does anyone here know anything aout ipods? i need to re download the program apple mobile divice.... but in order to do that it looks liek i need to delete itunes and re download everything. if i do that wont i lose all of my music even though its all in my ipod as soon as i sync i will lose all of my music!?!?!?

anyone know anything i can do?

thanks

dont sync it. set it to manual mode. then put it all back...

did you get it off iTunes or download it from LimeWire or something?

it can happen that one has the music in the Ipod and, for whichever reason, no longer in the computer. Has happened to me.

What I did is treat the Ipod like a USBC pen, open it on the "my computer menu", make a copy of all the files from the Ipod to the comp..

It works.

The only problem is that the music names get lost ( for instance a musica called " whatever" gets a designation like FX26 or something similar )

so you don't have the musics stored with their correct names in the computer file, but once you import them back to your Itunes Library ( which by the time you should have already sorted out with whatever problem you have ) the library renames them correctly...

i doubt you can copy plyable music on the ipod to the comp just like that
for that you would need a software such as copy pod or so
if you are talking about losing songs kept on the comp and are about to uninstall the itunes on the comp then you may go ahead without any problem as the itunes just holds pointer to your songs thru the library it has
but if you are talking about reinstalling or resetting the ipod software then you will lose data, but to avoid that wait till they release an upgrade for the software and then upgrade the existing software thus you will not lose any data

a better place to seek answers about ipods would be ilounge.com(all nerds with ipods are there:D)

actually using it as a USB is the smartest idea yet. just plug it in and access it through the C drive (i think...lol)

you mean to say you don't listen to music on your ipod but use it as a pen drive
i think i am  as to what you actually want to say

i mean to get the songs back on your computer. it would be easy to access it like a USB.

I did it quite some times.,. the only problem, as said, is that the comp does not recognize the names of the musics..

but you do what you want...

as said, once you import the strange named files to the itunes libary, it will rename them correctly..

at the end of the day, you will have the songs correctly named in the library ( and in the Ipod ) and you will have a music file in the comp, with all your songs, all very strangely named....
