Rant...

I work at a chain store, not that it matters because this is everywhere i'm sure. Where in the history of fishkeeping did the need for "cleaner, sucker, algae eating" fish come along? I'm always.....always telling customers they dont "need" one. The common plec has to be one of the most exploited fish on the market IMO.

I love the "seen the light" look on the faces of customers who just learned that since their tank has no algae why would they think need one? :screwy: At that why would they pick out a fish that would otherwise grow too large for their tank when there are other options.

Even better, those that claim they dont have to do any maintenance because the "cleaner" fish takes care of it.

rant off.

I have a big filter and a sucker fish that eats poop.

My water is crystal clear.

I don't need to change water.

Why do you keep selling me sick fish?

Can you get me some more guppies and tiger barbs?

K, Thanks, I'm going to go look at Zeolite products and water clarity chemicals.

:(

p.s. i realize that not everyone has the same fish keeping logic as those who are experienced.

Oh my god...that was too weird to read. Clearly you have immersed yourself in the same situations as myself. Hilarious.

The only cleaning crew that really works for us are large snails and crayfish. Nothing will ever replace good maintance of course but the right mix of residents can make your life a lot easier.

The tank isn't brand new..

My grandpa had it in storage for 3 years before I set it up last week..

I can't get new tank syndrome.. the tank is like 10 years old.
