ok, so as im in the process of setting up a breeding rack, i want to figure out what air pump to use. Being that i want to keep my costs down, i need it to be power efficient.

Plan is to run sponge filters in every tank. largest being 1 55, then a 30L, 2 20L, 6 10gallons, and maybe a couple 5 gallons.

i really have no idea where to begin with looking for a larger air pump like this. i already was thinking of running a closed loop out of pvc for the main air supply, then put valves where i want, just based of what I've seen at my LFS and online.

thanks in advance!!

Call Jehmco and explain what you are looking to set up. They will hook you up with the right equipement. I've ordered from them a few times and have been very happy.

I am running Model # DAPMH15!. I would think this pump would be more than enough (maybe even too much for what you describe). Good luck.

thanks aldiaz33, for the quick response. just trying to get other peoples opionions. someone else on another forum suggested i used one for jehmco as well, and suggested the DAPMH-20.

ive also had suggestions to use a pondmaster ap-40, or a 20watt linear air pump from ebay.

decisions, decisions. ive also decide i might be running 2 air lines per tank (sponge filter, and eventually maybe UGF) but either way, id rather have extra air then not enough...

I really like my DAPMH-15. It's very quiet and moves a lot of air. I am running 2- 2.5" air stone balls that are in my display tank (4' deep) and a 10" air wand in my sump and the flow is pretty awesome. Since the wattage difference between the 15LPH and the 20LPH isn't all that much, maybe you should just go with the bigger one (especially if there's any chance you might set up more tanks down the road).

I don't have personal experience with the Pondmaster. I was considering that pump, but had heard that it was noisier than the Jehmco pump and I wanted a quiet pump, so that's why I went with Jehmco's.

Jehmco can set you up with everyting you need...I bought the pump, airline, diffusers and a 6 outlet manifold from them. All of it was top notch. Good luck with your setup!
