Alright well my 400gallon for my RTC's / TSN is on its way to my house within the next few weeks BUT I have a HUGE question to ask of you RTC pro's.

I have a 300gallon stock tank with Alligator snapping turtles in it, ranging from 10inch to about 13inch. All of which are very docile, very fat, and very well fed. They dont even bother chasing small bluegill that I occasionally toss in. My filtration is supurb, so my QUESTION IS:

CAN I KEEP MY RTC'S IN WITH MY alligator snapping turtles with out FEARING THAT MY TURTLES ARE GOING to be swallowed. This to me is a no brainer, as RTC will put what ever they can fit in their mouths, but I thought Id ask if anyone has similar experience.

Im open to advice, but please dont talk out your butt :nilly:

If my alligator snapping turtles would be in harms way Ill avoid the situation all together as my smallest alligator snapper is my leucistic, and he'd therefor be the first meal, and an expensive meal at that.

I never had the opportunity to do this combo nor would I think about. I would be more worried about the Snapping turtle taking huge chunks out of the RTC/TSN. IMO, I WOULD...Just grab some egg crate from Lowes, Home Deport, etc... and build a small enclosure for the snapper.

The alligator snappers are actually incredibly docile im much mroe worried about the RTC engulfing one. But for now they have plenty of room (both of them the RTC and AST) . I just thought it would be an awsome combo if it was possible.

I understand that your Snappers are calm and collected...I'd rather be safe then sorry on both accounts of the cat and the snapper. Just my opinion.

I have a 5" alligator snapper and I planned on trying this in a few years. I Really dont think it would be a problem my ally is pretty lazy but if the catfish tried to eat him he could fight back their pretty strong.

I actually own a RTC as you can see from my pics that I always post, as well as an Alligator Snapping Turtle which you can also check out on MFK. I have a common snapper as well. That aside, I would NEVER even think about it. A bluegill will easily stay out of a AST's way, whereas the RTC will constantly be in his face. The AST WILL take chunks out of him, this is, of course, if the RTC doesn't swallow the AST. If the AST doesn't claw his way through the RTC's stomach, I do not think that it would be able to be digested. He would likely eventually throw up a dead turtle. DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN.
